Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:

  1. The newly renovated Pioneer Park in Dunedin was revealed at the recent Wine the Blues festival after undergoing $500,000 worth of improvements. Renovations include updated brick steps and lighting for the stage, a new mosaic tile entry, a water fountain featuring a pet water bowl, improved walkways, and new landscaping. Crews put down Bermuda turf with accents of artificial turf in high-traffic areas. The park will also receive new benches soon. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. The Dunedin Parks & Recreation Department has announced the Hale Senior Activity Center is a participating location for this year’s Silver Santas program. Silver Santas is a program that provides gifts during the holiday season to senior citizens who reside in assisted living communities, nursing homes, and senior housing communities. To participate, pick up a tag from the Hale Senior Activity Center during business hours. Each tag lists the recipient’s specific needs, including sizes and interests. The unwrapped items must then be returned by Friday, December 3rd to the Hale Senior Activity Center or another participating program location. (Press Release Desk)
  3. The Downtown Dunedin Craft Festival is expected to feature more than 200 visiting artisans this weekend. Customers can purchase various creative and affordable gifts such as nature-inspired jewelry and art, fine art, handmade candles, soaps, and clothes.   4. Brown-Eyed Women, an all-female Grateful Dead tribute band, is playing at the Dunedin Brewery on Friday night. Band members include singer Jill Simmons, Joni Bottari on lead guitar, bassist Dana Carroll, keyboardist and vocalist Caroline Killoh, Katie Moore on guitar and vocals, plus drummer and lead singer Denise Parent.
