$14 million assisted living facility proposed near Bosse Field would add 70 jobs by 2026 – Courier & Press

EVANSVILLE — Coming off the recent opening of the Deaconess Aquatic Center, Jacobsville could have a new development in the works for residents 55 and older.

The Evansville Regional Economic Partnership asked the Evansville City Council on Monday night to pass a resolution supporting an eight-year phase-in of property taxes on the area proposed for $14 million senior assisted living facility.

The council approved the resolution 9-0.

Parkside AAL, LP submitted the application for Economic Revitalization Area designation to EREP with plans to construct a new building at 1701 N. Heidelbach Avenue. This includes demolishing the current Crawford Door Building.

The development is planned to have three floors with 72 studio units and 48 one-bedroom units. Residents with incomes between 40% and 80% of the area median income will be served by the facility.

Seventy new jobs would be created in total, including management, CNAs, kitchen staff, with an average wage of $24.26 per hour. Fifty-five jobs will be in place by year two and five additional for the next three years.

Daniel Hubbard, Principal and President of Development for Crestline Development, said they are currently working to secure all of the financing for the project.

Answering a question about any concerns of noise and traffic from Bosse Field, Hubbard said he sees the project’s location as an amenity.

“We tried to back up the back of the building so the residents could look over the field,” he said.

Hubbard said units facing the highway at the facility they have in Fishers, Indiana, went first as residents enjoyed watching activity out their windows.

Units in the Evansville development are listed in the proposal to include walk in showers, adjustable height shelves in kitchen and wall cabinets, easy-to-reach light switches and outlets, as well as other elements of a universally constructed design.

The site will also have community rooms, an exercise room, beauty salon, computer center, laundry facilities and on-site management.
