Man shot while confronting shoplifter at southwest Albuquerque store

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department says a man trying to confront a shoplifter was shot. Now police are searching for the suspect. APD was called to Burlington Coat Factory at Central and Atrisco Tuesday afternoon. They say a woman was trying to steal from the store and was stopped by loss prevention but was able to escape.

She then got into a black Chrysler 300 with her boyfriend. They say the shopper saw what happened and confronted the pair. Police say the boyfriend got out and shot the man. The suspects then took off. APD says the man’s injuries are not life-threatenting.

FBI search for man with tattoo on left hand who robbed Albuquerque bank

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are looking for a man believed to have robbed the Bank of the West on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. Officials say he has an unidentified tattoo on his left hand.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a dark complexion, approximately 5’3″ to 5’5″ tall, slim build and wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black face mask, dark pants, and white shoes. He gave a note to a teller demanding money, who handed over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect. The suspect left the bank and possibly headed north on foot.

Former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid dies at 82

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)— Harry Reid, an American politician who represented Nevada in the U.S. Senate for 30 years has died. Reid was known as a champion who fought for the state that he loved. Former U.S Sen. Reid was described as one of the most powerful politicians in state history. Reid, who was 82, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Reid served in the U.S. Senate for 30 years, including eight years as Democratic majority leader, and was the longest-serving senator in Nevada history when he retired in 2017.
