Batavia, IL: Covenant Living at the Holmstad’s annual Bazaar is back on after being cancelled last year due to the pandemic. Fox Valley shoppers will once again have an opportunity to shop at this annual fall event. Now in its 43rd year, the Bazaar will be open to the public at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2. Shoppers can anticipate finding something for everyone—from baked goods, wood and needle crafts, seasonal wreaths, designer knits, plants, quilts, along with second-hand treasures such as jewelry, furniture, books and household items. There will also be a raffle for a hand-made quilt.
“We plan for this event for an entire year, and our residents are continuously creating items that will be up for sale,” said Randy Johnson, Covenant Living at the Holmstad Bazaar Chairperson. “All of this is possible through the generosity of nearly 300 resident volunteers who give of their time and talent to make this happen. We can’t wait to welcome the public back to this event—we missed the people in our greater community last year.”
Wilma Van Arragon has been living at The Holmstad for nine years but began to participate in the Bazaar a year before moving here.
“I am honored to share my shawls, sweaters and other knitted and crocheted items with my friends, neighbors, and community members,” said Wilma. “Six years ago, I began my own Artisan Boutique at the Bazaar and it’s been a joy to meet others who also love fine yarns and textiles, along with a passion for knitting and crocheting. And, knowing that this contributes to MY community is the icing on the cake.”
Johnson says for added convenience, shoppers may pay for items with credit cards, cash or checks. Proceeds raised from the Bazaar sales are utilized by residents for the Benevolent Care Fund, graduation gifts and scholarships for high school food servers, library books, music for the choir, and craft materials for resident projects.
