Progress on the new two-story facility for Birkwood Village has steadily progressed in 2021 with the company expecting to open their doors sometime between mid-November and December.

The independent and assisted living center will be hosting a job fair on Oct. 7 to fill a number of support positions including cooks, universal workers, certified nurse aides (CNA), certified medication aides (CMA), and housekeeping staff.

The job fair will take place at the Tama Civic Center next Thursday from 9-11:30 a.m. and 2:15-4 p.m.

Most of the construction is expected to be wrapped up by the end of October with an official opening date yet to be announced.

The center plans to open with 15-20 staff members that will assist residents living in the 40 independent and assisted living apartment homes as well as the 16 memory care suites.

Birkwood Village is located at 308 2nd Avenue behind Dollar Fresh and Chyma’s Welding in Toledo.
