Workers with a Lowcountry hospice company recently painted and donated rocking chairs to an assisted living community, decorating the home’s front porch for residents and guests.
The Edisto Home Care and Hospice team is privately-owned and is located in nearby Orangeburg. The group cares for patients who are on hospice in many parts of the Lowcountry, including Colleton County. Recently, the hospice team spent the entire month of June working on their project called “Day of Caring and Giving Back.” As part of this plan to give back to the community, the hospice’s employees decided to help The Assisted Living in Erhardt.
“The owner, Sherry, allowed our team to paint and repair six rockers that warm the porch of their assisted living facility,” said Shannon Polny, with Edisto Home Care and Hospice.
On July 12th, the women of the assisted living voted on their favorite rocker, and members of the hospice team took pictures of their rockers at the assisted living facility.
“We wanted to do a Day of Caring project that we as a team could do together and give back to the community. The ladies of this assisted living having hearts of gold and it seemed like the perfect project,” Polny said.
The Edisto Home Care and Hospice business is looking to expand by opening a second location in Walterboro. If approved, this second site would help the business to expand and provide hospice care into six counties in South Carolina.
