While the particular method will vary, farming Runes in Elden Ring can be nonetheless tedious; however, the Lands Between offer Tarnished a savory and fortuitous treat that can lighten their workload — the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. While the taste of a bird’s toes might be questionable for some, the in-game advantages are not, boosting a player’s Rune income by 30% for 180 seconds. This lucrative 3-minute buff in Elden Ring can even retain its effect when Tarnished rests at a Site of Grace. Such advantages provide players a considerable benefit for power-leveling and XP-grinding.
Before Tarnished gets to munching, they must first perform some crafting. The Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot is a surprisingly easy recipe, requiring Rowa Fruit ×3, Four-Toed Fowl Foot ×1, and Gold Firefly ×1. Rowa Fruit can be found in abundance across the Lands Between, particularly within the starting region of Limgrave. By the time player put several hours into exploring the map, they will likely have dozens if not hundreds of Rowa berries in their Inventory. The Fowl Foot and Gold Firefly, on the other hand, are more challenging to procure.
First, the Four-Toed Fowl Foot is an uncommon drop in Elden Ring from the Guillemot, a docile bird that inhabits the coastlines of Limgrave. Players will often find these penguin-shaped creatures resting on the rocky outcroppings near water. To avoid frightening Guillemots away, Tarnished are recommended to use ranged weapons, such as Glintstone Staff or Bow, for farming Four-Toed Fowl Feet.
How To Craft The Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot in Elden Ring
Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot’s Gold Firefly is less common than the previous two ingredients, yet it can be efficiently farmed if players know where to look. The glowing critters can be found in a few fixed locations across the map near Minor Erdrees, and the fireflies also occasionally drop from Giants Bats. However, the best place to collect several Gold Fireflies all at once is a pond near the southeastern coast of the Weeping Peninsula. From the Isolated Merchant’s Shack Site of Grace in Elden Ring, travel east until reaching a small body of water guarded by several tentacle beasts. Tarnished can ignore the enemies and rush through on Torrent, collecting the Gold Fireflies as they pass.
Like all Recipes that aren’t included in the basic Item Crafting, the golden foot can only be made once players have obtained the proper Cookbook. For the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot, Tarnished will need the Missionary’s Cookbook (2), an item sold by Patches, the mini-boss of the Murkwater Cave who becomes a merchant once he is spared in battle.
