Gwendolyn Skiles Obituary (2021) – Washington, PA – Observer-Reporter – Legacy.com

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Josephine Bradagan Skiles, 98, passed away in Family Touch Assisted Living, in Mesa, Ariz., and went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.

She was born on July 2, 1923, in Cumberland Township, Greene County, the daughter of the late Samuel A. Bradagan and Clara B. Clark Bradagan.

Gwen was a homemaker. In her earlier years, she enjoyed her large flower gardens, crocheting, designing and making her clothes. She also read her bible daily and did word search puzzles. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, in Masontown. Gwen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by a daughter, Dee Metz, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Keith (Amber) Metz, Gilbert, Ariz., Trish (Paul) Rumble, Evansville, Ind., Sandy (Danny) Barnes, Newburgh, Ind., and Justin (Bri) Metz, Scottsdale, Ariz.; 10 great-grandchildren, Nici Judge, Sami Rutledge, Victoria Rumble, Chelsea Gilbert, Cheyenne and Christopher Barnes, Charlie, Ripley, Bryson and Easton Metz; and two great-great-grandchildren, Atlas Robinson and Arielle Gilbert.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Skiles, whom she married on September 9, 1939; son, James Edward Skiles; two brothers, Edgar and Kenneth Bradagan; a sister, Eunice Lewandowski; and a half-sister, Elizabeth Hixenbaugh; sister-in-law, Mae Shuckhart; and a dear friend, Thelma Daily.

The family would like to thank the staff at Family Touch Assisted Living Home and Pacific Coast Hospice in Mesa, for their compassionate care. We also want to thank Beatrice and Russell Skiles and Mary and Danny Swaney for their excellent care in her home at Masontown.

Arrangements are private, and being handled by Paul Lesako Funeral home. Interment will be at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
