Lewis widow has birthday gift for future public servants – Redlands News
Arlene Willis-Lewis, wife of the late Congressman Jerry Lewis, will turn 85 on Wednesday, March 16, and she has a birthday gift for future graduating San Bernardino High School students.
A small group of friends, family and community leaders, along with the Cardinals and staff will gather at Arlene’s Blossom Grove Memory Care residence in Redlands to celebrate her birthday.
As a birthday gift, the Lewis family will direct funds to the Making Hope Happen Foundation to establish an endowment scholarship for future graduating San Bernardino High School students who are destined for public servant careers.
Arlene and her identical twin sister Darlene were cheerleaders at San Bernardino High. Other siblings as well as her husband Jerry Lewis and his siblings were Cardinals.
“My mother’s serving heart continues at Blossom Grove with her ongoing generosity, care for others, and gracious nature,” said her daughter Julia Willis-Leon. “Even her dog, Sugar contributes. Sugar also resides at Blossom Grove and is an adoring pet for the whole community.”
