Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau welcomes new resident with four paws – KFVS
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The Lutheran Home welcomed a new resident, one with four paws.
The assisted living facility has waited a long time for Auggie.
They originally wanted to bring in a dog two years ago, but that was put on hold because of COVID-19. Now, employees Kevin and Marlene Lindman take care of Auggie and bring him into the home every day for the residents.
“He puts smiles on their faces and brings joy to their day. The dogs have a way of brightening people’s spirits,” Kevin said.
Being only 10 weeks old, Auggie still has a lot of training to go through, but for now he brings a lot of excitement to not only the residents, but the employees as well.
“We’re very glad to welcome Auggie. He’s a delight to have,” said resident Carolyn Heise.
“He brings joy, and I think it’s great for the residents to have interaction with the dog,” said Tom Draper, another resident.
Auggie is the first dog that the Lutheran Home has ever had, and they hope that the residents will enjoy seeing him every day.
