The staff of unified nursing homes in dozens of facilities across the region are gathering today on the eve of national negotiations.
Members of the SEIU Union are seeking better protection as they continue to fight the pandemic.
Given the work they have done in the last 18 months, they will demand better wages.
They also said that they could not help without someone to help the residents.
“We need better staffing. We need to help our residents, but we can’t do that without staff to support them,” said SEIU Union Worker Charles Evans.
The Service Employees International Union represents approximately 2 million workers worldwide.
