Facteau, Paul “PJ” WATERVLIET Paul J. “PJ” Facteau answered his “last call” after a long illness on January 20, 2022, with his brother and sister-in-law at his side. He was 61. The loving son of Mary Kay and Paul Facteau, PJ was a devoted volunteer firefighter for the Defreetsville Fire Department for over 37 years. He rose through the ranks as assistant chief, vice president, and two-time president. He enjoyed training and mentoring countless firefighters. PJ truly enjoyed helping others, often doing household repairs for friends and family. He was a longtime collector of N-scale model trains and built an incredible layout in later years. He retired from the Albany County Sheriff’s Department as superintendent of buildings and grounds at the Albany County Correctional Facility. He also worked at NYNEX, Rouse, RPC Senior Housing, and National Semiconductor. PJ is survived by his brother, Steve and his wife Liz; uncle, Don and aunt, Teresa Facteau; uncle, Stephen Leibach, and several cousins and their children. The funeral with Defreestville Fire Department honors will be on Friday, January 28, at 9 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, 28 State St., Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Parker Bros. Memorial on Thursday, January 27, from 4-7 p.m. Please wear a mask and follow social distancing.
