October 2021 takes its place in the weather record books

ST. LOUIS – The first day of November was grey, cold, and damp. It follows an October that began as the warmest on record.

Looking back at the month’s temperatures, the warmest day was 88 degrees on Oct. 10 while the coldest was 40 degrees on Oct. 26. The mean temperature for the month was 63.9 degrees, ranking it as the 12th-warmest October on record.

Garden Glow setup hindered by rain

ST. LOUIS – This year marks the 9th annual Garden Glow at the Missouri Botanical Garden and while set up had to be paused late last week due to the rain, the hard work was back in full force today as we gear up for the biggest glow yet.

The work here started at the beginning of August, well before the majority of us were thinking ahead to the holidays. The crew of six people has put in countless hours as they transform the already beautiful gardens into a magical winter wonderland using over a million lights.

First frost of the season may arrive this week

ST. LOUIS – The first official frost of the season could arrive as early as this week in St. Louis and surrounding counties.

Below-freezing temperatures may result in a hard freeze for a portion of the area Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
