Rosie Lee Altman Marcatos | Obituaries | – Blackshear Times

Rosie Lee Altman Marcatos, 83, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday morning, February 10, 2022, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross following an extended illness.

Born August 1, 1938 in Blackshear, she was a daughter of the late Reggie Elbert Altman and Clattie Fish Altman. She grew up in Blackshear and lived in Jacksonville, FL and Stockton before returning to Pierce County in the 1990s.  She had worked as a seamstress at several sewing factories over the years and also worked for Saft Batteries Plant in Valdosta. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Alan Marcatos Sr.; her step-mother, Cora Elizabeth Altman; four sisters, Lois Stewart, Dollie Joyner, Betty Jean Scoville and Earline Musgrove and a brother, Robert Altman.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Spikes, Blackshear; three children, Rose Christine Bryant (husband Glenn), Steven Alan Marcatos Jr. (wife Sylvia), and Allen Custer (wife Kaye), all of Stockton; 11 grandchildren, Steven Alex Marcatos, Christopher Smith, Deanna Dozier, Marie Morgan, Steve Curtis Marcatos, Alisha Ponds, Ashley Wolf, Chanda Marcatos, Brett Marcatos, Dylan Marcatos and Michael Tomlinson; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Crews, Hoboken, Gertie Hanover (husband Jack), Scottsmore, FL, and Helen Morgan, Blackshear; four brothers, W.R. Altman (wife Alma), Waycross, Roy Altman, Blackshear, John Altman (wife Sandy), Jacksonville, FL, and Carl Altman (wife Ruth), Blackshear and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday Feb. 14, from the Blackshear City Cemetery.
