Plans to create an assisted living facility on the north side of Soledad Canyon Road are set to be considered by the Santa Clarita Planning Commission in their regularly scheduled meeting next week.

The Santa Clarita Planning Commission is set to hold a public hearing for the proposed assisted living facility and address any public concerns during their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday.

A Conditional Use Permit (CUP) is being requested for the operation of a 214-bed community care facility expected to be located in an existing 100,327 square-foot building located at 17901 Soledad Canyon Road.

The proposed subject property includes an existing, vacant, three-story office building that was approved and constructed in 2006 on a 2.2-acre site on the north side of Soledad Canyon Road.

The original building consisted of 100,000 feet of office space, but the building had remained vacant and unfinished for over 15 years, according to organizers with the Soledad Canyon Assisted Living Facility.

If the CUP is approved to begin assisted living arrangements, the facility is expected to include 214 beds with the first floor containing 18 beds specializing in memory care as well as six private rooms and six semi-private rooms, according to organizers.

The second and third floors would contain 98 semi-private rooms, accommodating up to196 beds with their own dining rooms as well as recreation rooms for resident entertainment.

The most noticeable renovation amid the construction is the expected outdoor seating area along the back property line, which is projected to take up 40 of the 375 existing parking spaces.

Other changes include the exterior colors of the building, which are expected to be altered from peach and white to blue and green, according to organizers.

The Santa Clarita Planning Commission is expected to reach a consensus on the project during its regular meeting on July 6.
