Tri-States residents react to new nursing facility visiting restrictions – WGEM

QUINCY (WGEM) — Local residents are speaking out after some Quincy nursing homes are suspending in person visits.

The measure comes at the recommendation of the Adams County Health Department after the state put Adams County at a warning level for COVID-19 late yesterday afternoon.

Tom Graves is a pastor in Golden, Illinois.

He said he’s now visiting his congregation at the Illinois Veterans Home outside due to the new protocols.

Graves said while it’s frustrating, it’s still important people make the effort to see their loved ones.

“If you can visit friends or family during this time, that’s really what makes the difference in people’s lives,” Graves said. “People live here isolated and for many people that’s really hard and difficult.”

According to Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, the restrictions will go into effect Saturday.

Officials at Sunset Home in Quincy said the facility would do its best to schedule outdoor visits next week, weather permitting.
