Mildred Audrene Holmes Mildred Audrene Holmes went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, the 27th day of June 2021, at the age of 91 years old. She was born on the 6th day of December 1929, in the Lone Pine Community.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents Clayton and Doris Wilson Lowe, as well as her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, husband, Carroll Loyd Holmes; son, Ronald Wayne Holmes; siblings, Edwin Lowe, Dorothy Lowe, Glynn Lowe, and Leroy Lowe.

She is survived by her son, Steve Holmes and wife Emily; daughter, Linda Atwood and husband Delton; grandchildren, Julie Middleton and husband Chad, Melissa Byrd and husband Chris, Josh Atwood and wife Erin, Austin Atwood and wife Samantha; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Chase, Isabella, Reece, Scarlett, Emerson, and Elinor; siblings, Ann Brewer, Virginia Stanaland, and Doug Lowe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred spent her life serving the Lord and others in all that she did. She was a Sunday school teacher, mentor, and mother/grandmother figure to so many. She was hospitable, giving, nurturing, and loving. She welcomed many into her home for Sunday lunches or Thanksgiving gatherings. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her life was devoted to being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, the 29th day of June 2021 at Rhone Funeral Home.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mildred Holmes is to be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the 30th day of June 2021 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Paul Jones and Danny Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Land of Memory Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Josh Atwood, Austin Atwood, Chad Middleton, Chris Byrd, Chase Middleton, Reece Byrd, Eddie Stanaland, and David Lowe.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to everyone at Windermere Assisted Living at Cartmell, TruCare Living Center in Palestine, Melissa Randle with Heart-to-Heart Hospice, B & B Caregiving, and all the many other individuals throughout the years for the excellent care given to Mrs. Holmes.
